Sonda will be talking about the clinical reasoning behind NCCI edits and when the use of specific, allowed modifiers to bypass are appropriate.
With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, Sonda’s expertise includes comprehensive knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding concepts, documentation and training, compliance and healthcare reimbursement methodology. Her experience comes from working in a variety of positions both as an outside consultant and as a professional within hospital-owned and private medical practices. She has experience with review and application of the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) relating to her work with community behavioral health agencies in Ohio.
Sonda is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Outpatient Coder (COC) Certified Professional Biller (CPB) Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO) Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Certified Physician Practice Manager (CPPM) an AAPC approved coding instructor (CPC-I) Sonda is also part of the adjunct faculty of the Health Information Management department at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio.

Christine will be discussing the benefits of having a solid QI process within your agency and how to deal with clinical appeals, which with the MCO Carve in have become critically important.

Navigating the nuances of BH Redesign; assistance with strategic planning, preparing clinical documentation to support billing for Managed Care company’s, performing clinical audits, setup and support of quality improvement and compliance programs, demonstrating medical necessity, preparing for certification and accreditation, training staff on clinical documentation and medical necessity, developing better clinical programs, and writing prior authorizations and appeals to payors, preparing for audits.
