Over the last 25 years, my background includes solid experience and proven success in the following areas:

General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivables, Audit Compliance, Financial Analysis and Reporting, Month/Year end closing, Electronic Health Record implementation, and Revenue Cycle Management including billing troubleshooting and customer support.

In the last 11+ years, I transitioned into Project Management specializing in electronic health record implementation and billing support, providing training to many organizations impacted by the changes required during the adoption of an electronic health record. My billing process can be used by Behavioral Health and Primary Care agencies using ANY software ensuring an average reimbursement rate of 96-98% from Ohio Medicaid.

In addition, I have excellent computer skills specializing in Excel and Database applications and high adaptability to any EHR software application and provide proven training sessions on topics ranging from Billing to Microsoft Excel in individual or large group settings.

In the last 3 1/2 years, I’ve devoted a considerable amount of time becoming very familiar with the Ohio Redesign and Managed Care Carve in changes currently in process. This included involvement in advocacy groups, attendance and participation in multiple training sessions offered by the state, becoming a member of the technical admin work group offered by Medicaid and becoming known to the principals in this process as an advocate for all Ohio agencies.

Now as we move into the next phase, we have made a substantial change by partnering with Qualifacts to offer an Associate program for small to medium agencies. An electronic health record built by Ohio experts at a price that is affordable with a quick turnaround. The more we can help get through this unstable time, the closer we are to reaching our goal of impacting lives across Ohio by maintaining access to care.

I have worked in the healthcare field for over 25 years in a variety of positions, including 14 years in health care administration and over 4 years in EHR implementation, specifically practice management.

I spent most of my career directing operations for numerous oncology sites in Northern Kentucky. I found great satisfaction in building teams of talented, hardworking, and dedicated employees, committed to providing the best care possible to our patients, who were often fighting for their lives. I thrived off the challenge of collaborating with the physicians and staff to develop the most efficient and “patient driven” processes. In 2008, we began implementing NextGen, a new electronic health record. I was heavily involved in that process and led the practice management setup regarding front office operations for all 20 locations in the tri-state area.

In 2013, I made a career change and began working with OSIS as a Nextgen EPM Specialist. I worked with new and existing Nextgen practices to implement and optimize the use of the EHR. I spent the majority of my time working with Ohio behavioral health practices, developing workflow processes and setup within the EHR to accommodate their unique billing requirements. I actively participated in training related to the Ohio Medicaid BH Redesign and I worked directly with Nextgen as they were developing the functionality needed to meet the complicated redesign requirements. During this time, I performed the EHR implementation for an Ohio behavioral health agency where I was fortunate enough to meet my business partner, Teresa Heim. Our friendship and working relationship persuaded Teresa to ask me to partner with her to build BHBS into a successful billing company. We have achieved that goal, added credentialing services, and became an Affiliate of CareLogic, building and maintaining an EHR structure that 40+ behavioral and mental health agencies currently utilize.

My experience in combination with my bachelor’s degree in business administration has served me well in my role as Chief Operating and Financial Officer for BHBS. I take pride in knowing that providing great customer service is my top priority. My experience on both sides of the spectrum motivates me to be accessible and respond as promptly as possible to our clients. I look forward to working with many more agencies and becoming part of their team as we work to maximize their efficiency and reimbursement rates.
