Teresa Heim, Ohio Behavioral Health Expert and EHR Implementation Specialist
Chief Executive Officer
Over the last 25 years, my background includes solid experience and proven success in the following areas:
General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivables, Audit Compliance, Financial Analysis and Reporting, Month/Year end closing, Electronic Health Record implementation, and Revenue Cycle Management including billing troubleshooting and customer support.
In the last 8 years, I transitioned into Project Management specializing in electronic health record implementation and billing support, providing training to many organizations impacted by the changes required during the adoption of an electronic health record. My billing process can be used by Behavioral Health and Primary Care agencies using ANY software ensuring an average reimbursement rate of 96-98% from Ohio Medicaid.
In addition, I have excellent computer skills specializing in Excel and Database applications and high adaptability to any EHR software application and provide proven training sessions on topics ranging from Billing to Microsoft Excel in individual or large group settings.
In the last year, I’ve devoted a considerable amount of time becoming very familiar with the Ohio Redesign changes currently in process. This included involvement in advocacy groups, attendance and participation in multiple training sessions offered by the state, becoming a member of the technical admin work group offered by Medicaid and becoming known to the principals in this process as an advocate for all Ohio agencies. My belief is by working together, we can build a better process for all and actually impact change.
Michelene Steinmetz, Healthcare Administration and EHR Implementation Specialist
Chief Operations Officer
I have worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years in a variety of positions, including 14 years in health care administration and over 4 years in EHR implementation, specifically practice management.
I spent the majority of my career directing operations for numerous oncology sites in Northern Kentucky. I found great satisfaction in building teams of talented, hard working, and dedicated employees, committed to providing the best care possible to our patients, who were often fighting for their lives. I thrived off the challenge of collaborating with the physicians and staff to develop the most efficient and “patient driven” processes. In 2008, we began implementing NextGen, a new electronic health record. I was heavily involved in that process and led the practice management setup in regard to front office operations for all 20 locations in the tri-state area.
In 2013, I made a career change and began working with OSIS as a Nextgen EPM Specialist. Over the last four and a half years, I worked with new and existing Nextgen practices to implement or optimize the use of the EHR. I spent the majority of my time working with Ohio behavioral health practices, developing workflow processes and setup within the EHR to accommodate their unique billing requirements. I actively participant in trainings related to the Ohio Medicaid BH Redesign and I am working directly with Nextgen as they develop the functionality needed to meet the complicated redesign requirements, so that their clients can properly bill in 2018.
My experience in combination with my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and my certification as a Nextgen professional will benefit any practice looking to implement or optimize their EHR and streamline workflows for efficiency. I take pride in knowing that providing great customer service is my top priority. My experience on both sides of the spectrum motivates me to be accessible and respond as promptly as possible to my clients. I am looking forward to working with different agencies with a variety of electronic health records and becoming part of their team as we work to maximize their efficiency and reimbursement rates.

What Our Customer’s Are Saying
Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!
We first worked with Teresa in 2013 when we were adopting our first electronic health record.
The transition was very successful with no disruption to our cash flow based largely on her ability to help us prepare. She is so knowledgeable about the inner workings of an electronic health record and stays very current on the ever changing state regulations.
I have observed Teresa at many state sponsored meetings and trainings, and she is a strong advocate for BH and AOD providers across Ohio.Melanie VanDyne
“Teresa is the bomb…..drop the mic.”
“She has worked with our organization for over 5 years. She is a tireless worker with a tremendous attention to detail. Her knowledge of behavioral health billing has kept us ahead of the curve in managing our revenue cycle in a rapidly changing environment.”Kevin Blevins
I have had the pleasure of working with Teresa Heim in different capacities and she has been a huge asset to our firm in all of them.
As a client of our software and services she has assisted us many times in refining our offerings and enhancing our software’s effectiveness in the field.
As an independent consultant, she has worked tirelessly to help our mutual clients understand their entire revenue cycle and improve their billing and cash flow and in the process, helps our clients better utilize our software.
And as a mutual stakeholder in the healthcare services world, Teresa has forged relationships in State and County departments and with other service providers to build a network of ideas and strategies that benefit everyone.
Teresa’s knowledge, skills, and determination will be a huge asset to anyone who engages her services.David Pontrello
I can’t thank you all enough for what you are doing. The staff at The Recovery Council work their tails off - from MIS and billing, to Admin and HR, to direct and residential service staff. We have many areas where we can get better but I have complete confidence in their passion and desire to help others find a new life. There are many things that keep me awake at night but you all are relieving the stress in a significant way. I’m so glad you are on our side. Thank you!
